Following last year’s announcement of his music-themed cable network, Revolt TV, Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially chosen July for its launch.
Distributed through Comcast and co-founded by former MTV programming chief, Andy Schuon, the developing channel has already begun rolling out a string of viral clips featuring Pittsburgh rapper, Mac Miller, The Game and a 53-second teaser in promotion of the network’s launch.
The network will be “the first channel created entirely from the ground up in this new era of social media," Combs said in a statement obtained by the Los Angeles Times. "We’re building this platform for artists to reach an extraordinary number of people in a completely different way. Revolt will be live, like all great moments in television history.”
Though Comcast is currently slated as the channel’s primary cable provider, Combs also has intentions on expanding to other major distributors.
"When I was growing up, I was watching television all the time -- I used to wonder, 'Why don't those people look like me, or talk like me or walk like me?' So thank you to Comcast; my hat goes off to you for being the first to step up," he said while announcing the network via YouTube.
"And I would also like to encourage and to invite Time Warner, DirecTV, Cable Vision and all the other distributors to come and get down with the get down. Because Revolt TV is bringing that revolution that television needs.”
