Ryan Lochte's reality show debuted last night, but it's still not clear what "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" is supposed to be about ... besides Ryan Lochte. Jeah! The show certainly isn't going out of its way to make the Olympian look good, though.
It's opening scene had him showing off a pair of shoes. He said, "These are my shoes, that I designed from top to the very sole to the very top to the bottom-- F***! Lace. These are ...”
"Start it again," the producer said. Now, these kinds of scenes probably happen all the time, but this one made the final cut. Even better, it was the scene chosen to start the first episode of the series!
Elsewhere in the premiere, Ryan admitted that he doesn't know what Obamacare is, and that he doesn't know why people call him a douchebag, because he doesn't know what that word means either. At another point, he admitted that he takes all of his dates to the same sushi restaurant and sits at the same table very time so that should make all of the women watching who've been there feel special.
Reviews for the "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" premiere were downright negative. Zap2It said it was "every bit as awful as you expected it to be." The Hollywood Reporter thought that Ryan himself came across as "the worst stereotype of a frat boy." Entertainment Weekly summed up the show by saying it was apparently about nothing, but not in the good "Seinfeld" way.
