'The Voice': Adam Levine Calls Blake Shelton An 'Idiot' For His Choice Between Luke Edgemon And Holly Tucker (VIDEO)

Adam Calls Blake An 'Idiot' For 'Voice' Choice

It was Night 2 of "The Voice" Knockout Rounds, and that meant it was time for Team Blake and Team Usher to whittle their combined sixteen contestants to only eight each who will advance to next week's live shows. Early in the night, Blake Shelton courted controversy with the judging panel after his second pairing.

He pitted one of his newest acquisitions, Luke Edgemon -- stolen from Shakira -- against country powerhouse Holly Tucker. Edgemon performed a unique take on Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" that got the attention of the other coaches, but didn't seem to resonate as much with Blake. Or perhaps he's just loyal to his own team. He ultimately booted both of his steals when he sent Taylor Beckham -- stolen from Usher -- home as well.

But it was the elimination of Luke that got him some flak from the other coaches. Adam Levine tried to convince him to pick Luke right from the beginning. "Don’t be stupid. I’m not playing games," he told Blake. After Blake did eliminate Luke, Adam dropped by to expand on his thoughts. "Let me explain why you’re an idiot, is because he’s a whole unique thing," Adam said. "He’s original. He’s different."

Critics seemed to side with Adam on this one. Buddy TV hated the decision, which helped Blake achieve his "all country" Top 4. "'The Voice' NEEDS to add a Steal to the Knockout Rounds, because there are way too many talented people with the potential to be real stars going home while people with no future are moving on," they wrote. Zap2It agreed that Blake made the wrong choice, but they blamed Luke, too. He had a choice in the Battle Rounds to get stolen by Blake or Usher, and he chose Blake.

Joining Holly on Blake's "country" team were Justin Rivers, Danielle Bradbery and The Swon Brothers, who became the first duo to ever advance to the live rounds. Team Usher takes Josiah Hawley, Michelle Chamuel, Vedo and Cathia to the live shows.
