Squirrel Interrupts Kansas-Wichita State Baseball Game (VIDEO)

Squirrel Invades Baseball Game

The Jayhawks' baseball team attracted a pair of unexpected visitors on Tuesday while hosting the Wichita State Shockers in an 11-inning game in Lawrence, Kan.

A squirrel had wandered onto the field and interrupted play, forcing a ballplayer from both teams to try to remove it from the infield. As it scampered toward second base, Shockers catcher Tyler Baker scooped it into his batting helmet as cheers and laughter erupted from the stands.

“I was scared it would do something, but it was weird, he just walked up to me,” Baker told KU Sports.

A few innings later, Baker noticed a second squirrel take the field, but it was eventually chased back into the Shockers bullpen by left fielder Micah Green, per Kansas.com.
