'Under The Dome': New Trailer Gives Extended Look At CBS' Stephen King Adaptation

'We're On Our Own'

CBS has released a new, extended trailer for "Under the Dome," the highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King's novel, which premieres on June 24 at 10 p.m. ET.

The new footage can best be described as "explosive," given that we see everything from a plane to a house go up in smoke, illustrating the panic and chaos that grips the inhabitants of Chester's Mill after a giant, impenetrable dome inexplicably traps the town.

"People's eyes are going to bug out of their head when they see it," King has previously said of the show's visual effects. "It's going to be riveting TV."

"When I read this script, I had the same reaction as when I saw the 'Lost' pilot ... I really wanted to spend time with those characters in that world, and I felt that way about this show," executive producer Jack Bender recently said at the "Under the Dome" WonderCon panel. "When I came aboard and read Brian [K. Vaughan's] first episode, what really excited me were the characters, and this show is really a character show with a sci-fi element as opposed to the other way around ... Our writing team [has] developed characters that are extraordinarily rich and fascinating to follow under the microscope."
