Detroit Hotel Resurgence Tightens Competition

Detroit — On the 24th floor of the Crowne Plaza Pontchartrain, General Manager Mike Kravelic stood near the glass wall overlooking the expanding Cobo Convention Center across the street and recalled the room's brushes with history.

It was here that Ronald Reagan learned he'd won the Republican nomination for president, and where George Bush took the call confirming his nomination to be vice president.
