'Once Upon A Time' Renewed For Season 3 By ABC

ABC's "Once Upon a Time" has been renewed for a third season, the network announced today.

The sophomore series has fluctuated between ratings highs of 3.9 in the 18-49 demo and lows of 2.1, but "Once Upon A Time" was always considered a safe bet for renewal.

ABC is also working on a Wonderland-focused spinoff that would likely feature Barbara Hershey as Cora, The Queen of Hearts. The spinoff will reportedly focus on Alice (Sophie Lowe) "who has a generous heart but carries the scars of a long hard life."

Star Ginnifer Goodwin tweeted her excitement when ABC announced the news:

And co-creator Adam Horowitz thanked the fans for the renewal and spin-off pick-up:

ABC canceled an additional five series from the 2012-2013 season: "Body Of Proof," "Happy Endings," "How To Live With Your Parents," "Malibu Country" and "Red Widow," which join the previously canceled "666 Park Avenue," "Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23," "Last Resort," "Private Practice" and "Zero Hour." On a more positive note, the network renewed "Castle," "Grey's Anatomy," "Last Man Standing," "The Middle," "Modern Family," "Nashville," "Revenge," "Scandal" and "Suburgatory." ABC has not confirmed the reported fates of "Family Tools" and "The Neighbors."
