While you probably know him best as goofy Max Russo on the Disney Channel's "The Wizards of Waverly Place," Jake T. Austin is taking on a more adult role as Jesus Foster on the new comedy-drama "The Fosters." Though "The Fosters" doesn't premiere until June 3, you can catch a preview of the show's first episode, which was released by ABC Family last week.
The trailblazing show tells the story of two moms raising both biological and foster children in a "multi-ethnic" household. In the (kind of intense) scene shown in the episode preview, Jesus confronts his sister, Marianna, played by Cierra Ramirez, after his pills have gone missing. The last time we caught up with Jake, the teen actor alluded to possible on-screen drama.
"It introduces a lot of new topics, some are controversial, some aren’t, and aside from who’s involved in the show creatively, it’s just a great opportunity for me to show up every day and do what I love," he said.
