A gay man was allegedly attacked outside of a popular New York nightspot in what appears to be a spate of citywide assaults.
ABC 7 reports that the victim, who was not identified, was coming out of Pieces, a gay bar in Manhattan's West Village, when he was attacked by two men who were yelling gay slurs. He was not seriously hurt.
The attack does not appear to be related to the case of Nick Porto and Kevin Atkins. The couple told DNA Info's Mathew Katz they were knocked to the ground by four men emerging from a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden on May 5. The alleged culprits shouted anti-gay slurs at the pair, who live in Brooklyn, in broad daylight, according to the report.
Two 21-year-old suspects, Asllan Berisha and Brian Ramirez, have since been arrested and charged with gang assault and assault as a hate crime in connection with yet another assault in the area, according to the New York Post.
The two victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where one of them underwent eye surgery, according to NBC.
