Best Champions League Final Goals: Zinedine Zidane's 2002 Goal Ranks Among Classic Scores (VIDEO)

When the top two teams in Europe clash in the annual Champions League final, it can be just a single moment of inspiration that proves the difference. Having endured the months-long journey to that winner-take-all match, players from both sides are battled tested but not all are ready to seize the moment.

Zinedine Zidane was ready.

The talismanic attacking midfielder struck arguably the greatest goal in the history of the competition in the decisive moment of the 2002 final at Hampden Park in Glasgow. With his Real Madrid side level with Bayer Leverkusen in the 45th minute, the French star slammed home a waist-high, left-footed volley for the ages off a lob pass from Roberto Carlos. The sublime strike was a miracle of power and precision.

"My goal was very nice, but the most important thing was that we won," Zidane later said, via The Telegraph, who ranked this goal one of the Top 20 sports moments of the 2000s. "It has brought me and the team great satisfaction."

Here are more than a dozen other classic goals from Champions League finals through the years. Which is the most memorable? Are any of these equal to Zidane's masterpiece? What iconic scores should we add to the list?
