American Stars In "Despierta America'

Culture shock. It happens to celebrities too.

Perhaps slightly more hilarious than bringing your all-American friend to their first all-Latino party is seeing Hollywood stars dazed and confused as they try to understand why the male morning talk show host that was just interviewing them is now a voluptuous and lively cleaning lady asking for their hand in marriage.

Earlier this month Jesse Eisenberg seemed to have these burning questions when he appeared on Univision’s “Despierta América” (Wake-Up America) to promote his upcoming movie “Now You See Me,” set to premiere May 30. Weeks later, Will and Jaden Smith had a bit more fun on the set of the show as the former Prince of Bel-Air broke out his amazing Spanish skills while talking about their latest film "After Earth," in theaters on May 31.

In February, the Spanish-language network announced in a press release that “Despierta América” was the fastest growing morning show in ratings “regardless of language.” So it’s only fitting that Hollywood has taken note of the marketing potential of appearing on the show, despite the obvious language barrier.

29-year-old Eisenberg may be the latest victim of Doña Meche, the cross-dressing character portrayed by host Raúl González, but he certainly is not the first.

Check out above Jesse Eisenberg, Gerard Butler, Jason Statham, and Mark Wahlberg’s hilarious reactions to her advances -- not to mention other A-listers that tried their best to impress on the Spanish-language morning show. (We’re looking at you Tom and Will)
