Volcano Choir, one of Justin Vernon's seemingly endless music projects, have announced a new album and tour. "Repave," out Sept. 3 in the U.S. and Sept. 2 internationally, will mark the band's first album since 2009's "Unmap." Volcano Choir finds the mellow crooner teaming up with Collections of Colonies of Bees.
The Grammy-winning Bon Iver frontman announced the new material with a trailer for the album directed by rock-video aficionado Dan Huiting, who has previously helmed clips for Robyn, Toro y Moi and, of course, Bon Iver. (Watch the trailer above.)
Jagjaguwar, the record label to which Vernon belongs, unveiled the track list for "Repave" in a lengthy announcement on its website, saying the album "focuses on the love and bond between the members of Volcano Choir, how their friendships were fortified over the years-long process of writing and recording these songs."
The tracklist is as follows:
Upon its release in 2009, "Unmap" hit No. 92 on the Billboard chart. As was famously the case with Bon Iver's albums, the Volcano Choir debut was recorded in Vernon's homestate of Wisconsin.
Those holding out for more Bon Iver material shouldn't hang on to that wish too closely. Vernon said last year that he was planning to "walk away from" the band that made him famous and won him two Grammys. "Repave" will serve as the second album Vernon has released this year, following the April release of The Shouting Matches' "Grownass Man."
