Alexandre Coeff showed he may have the skill to earn a call-up to his country's senior side with a stunning goal on Tuesday for France's U-21 team against the United States at the Toulon Tournament.
The French midfielder who plays for Lens deftly redirected a free kick with the back of his heel, sending it right past the American goalkeeper. Thanks in part to Coeff's scorpion kick, the French team routed the United States' U-20 side, 4-1.
"They scored the first goal and second, and we woke up. It’s not supposed to happen that way," US midfielder Benji Joya told reporters after loss. "We’re supposed to come out the first minute when the game starts.”
