Carl Sandburg College Flooding Caught On Security Footage (VIDEO)

An Illinois college is closed this week after severe flooding caused an estimated $150,000 in damage Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.

Security cameras at the Carl Sandburg College student services center in Galesburg, Ill., caught floodwaters smashing through the doors after four inches of rain fell in half an hour, according to WMBD.

The flooding caused desks to float, WXIN reports, and the Peoria Journal Star noted as many as 30 computers were destroyed. No one was injured, according to KEYC.

"Shocking is probably the only word for it," college president Lori Sundburg told KWQC. She added, "We're very grateful that there was no one that was hurt. All the damage that we have is strictly material items and equipment."

The spring semester ended two weeks ago, but WHBF reports some pre-summer courses were in session this week. Those classes have been canceled until the college reopens, which school officials hope will be next week.
