MONTPELLIER - Vincent Aubin and Bruno Boileau exchanged vows Wednesday in the southern city of Montpellier to become France's first legally married gay couple following last week's enactment of the landmark law.

France is now the ninth country in Europe, and the 18th in the world to allow same-sex marriage, though in some places -- like the United States -- it is only legal in certain states or regions.
