Petcube Lets Pets Play With Owners Via Smartphone, Saving Sofas From Becoming Chew Toys (VIDEO)

If you have a pet, chances are high that you've experienced some level of guilt as you leave Fido or Roscoe at home in the morning. You know, so you can actually earn a living. And while the welcome reception you get when you finally come back is lovely, you do always wonder what they actually do all day while you're gone. (Some of us need to only look at a scratched-up sofa to see how they've been keeping themselves busy.)

Here, we'll make it all better. Flickr photo by originalpozer

Enter: The Petcube. (We're not sure how we feel about the name, which makes us expect a square holding cell/prison for dogs and cats.) It's basically a laser pointer that you can control remotely, but also gives you the ability to see your pet in action (thanks to its built-in HD camera). You can also talk to your pet -- something we're sure will royally confuse them.

To check out the Petcube in action, watch the video above.
