Terrell Owens is being realistic.
In an interview with Mike Freeman of CBS Sports, the six-time Pro Bowler said he would retire if he doesn't play in the NFL in 2013.
"That's just me being realistic. I want to play again. I want to go out on top with a team," he told Freeman. "I think I can still play, but if I don't sign with a team, it would be time to retire. I have to be honest with myself."
Owens hasn't played in the NFL since he spent a season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010. He caught 72 passes for 983 yards and scored nine touchdowns with Cincinnati. But his tenure with the Bengals ended on a sour note. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks before the 2012 season, but was cut during preseason.
If he does retire, he might have a future in bowling. He recently made his debut as a semi-professional bowler.
