Has Tiger Woods' public image finally recovered after his cheating scandal a few years back?
Woods shocked fans in December 2009 when he publicly admitted to cheating on his now ex-wife Elin Nordegren. Eventually, more than a dozen women came forward about affairs with the professional golfer, releasing incriminating voicemails and text messages that Woods had sent to back up their accusations.
Nine months later, Woods and his wife were divorced, with Nordegren receiving joint custody of the couple's two children and a reported $110 million divorce settlement. That wasn't the only financial hit Woods took at the time; the golf pro reportedly lost $22 million in endorsement deals in 2010, according to Business Insider.
Today the 37-year-old golfer is back on top of Forbes' list of the world’s highest-paid athletes, having earned $78.1 million last year alone. (The athlete spent 11 consecutive years at No. 1 on the list before falling to third in 2012.) A whopping $65 million of Woods' earnings this year came from high-profile endorsement deals, while the rest of his income -- $13.1 million -- was tied to his wins on the course (he's won 50 percent of the events he’s competed in this season) and a return to the top of the World Golf Rankings.
Woods' past indiscretions don't seem to be a problem for his new girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, whom the golf pro has been dating since March 2013. Vonn made her first red carpet apperance with Woods at the Met Costume Institute Gala in May and opened up about the relationship the next month in an interview with People magazine.
"We just are happy," the Olympic skier said. "We're similar. We're both at the top of our sports, and we relate really well to each other."
