Nadine Velazquez joined the cast of "Major Crimes" as Emma Rios on the Season 2 premiere. Rios is a district attorney working on the Stroh case, and she wasn't at all happy to find out that Rusty was living with Raydor.
“Stroh’s lawyers will claim you coached the child," she told Raydor. "Whatever happened to professional distance and foster care?”
She demanded that Raydor get Rusty placed somewhere right away, but Raydor told her it wasn't going to happen. At this point, she feels like a mother to Rusty, and the two have bonded like a family. While that could potentially hurt the D.A.'s case, wouldn't it be more detrimental to Rusty to pull him from her house after all this time?
Reel Life With Jane felt bad for Raydor, writing that she's "caught between a rock and a hard place with Rusty’s case. She wants to protect him, and yet has to cooperate with the cops and lawyers as they question him about his case — in court. Here’s a ripped-from-the-headlines story about pleading the fifth.”
TV Fanatic enjoyed the addition of Velazquez to the cast, but didn't find her character very likable in the premiere. Will she warm up, or continue to create friction? Find out by tuning in to Season 2 of "Major Crimes" every Monday at 9 p.m. ET on TNT.
