It's really easy to get lazy (read, boring) with rice. Most of us turn to rice for a fast side dish we can quickly cook up to make our meal feel complete. Hardly do we give rice any more thought. But this is a shame people. Rice deserves better than this. In some countries, like Brazil, rice isn't just an after thought. And it's thanks to them that we get amazing rice recipes like this black rice.

Black rice, the Brazilian version, is made with actual whole-grain black rice -- not black beans. Flavored with garlic and onions, it makes the perfect complement to any seafood main.
