In case you haven’t noticed, the Lifetime network is putting a lot of energy into their new Devious Maids show. And while it has earned praise for employing an all-Latina cast, some believe the series is perpetuating offensive stereotypes. Star Dania Ramirez however, begs to differ.

“This show is about five Latina women chasing their dreams in America,” she said. “Don’t focus on the dishwashing, these are women who are working hard to get ahead.”

Not surprisingly, show producer Eva Longoria has said the same thing. And judging from the promos, the Maids certainly wield a lot of power in the workplace.

Ramirez went on to emphasize how proud she was of the show and her castmates. In fact, Dania now classifies co-star Roselyn Sanchez as her newest BFF.
