In very unfortunate news for Colbert Nation and of course the Colbert family, Lorna Elizabeth Tuck Colbert has died at the age of 92. She was the mother of Stephen Colbert, former congressional candidate Elizabeth Colbert Busch and nine other children.

Stephen Colbert suspended his show back in February when she first fell ill.

Her obituary in the Charleston Post & Courier calls her "the matriarch of a family of 82," and "an accomplished artist, a church leader, a businesswoman, a supporter of the arts and a woman whose profound faith was apparent in her daily life."

According to International Business Times, the family asks for donations to be sent to the Medical University Of South Carolina Foundation instead of sending flowers.
