PBS/Charlie Rose Show

PBS announced on Monday that Charlie Rose sat down with President Obama for an exclusive interview about a variety of topics.

The 45-minute interview will air Monday evening on "The Charlie Rose Show" at 11 p.m. EST. The interview took place on Sunday at the White House, just before the president and his family departed for the G-8 summit.

PBS described the conversation as "wide-ranging," as the president reportedly weighed in on topics including the controversy surrounding the National Security Agency and issues of cyber-security and China. The exclusive interview came just days after NSA leaker Edward Snowden told South China Morning Post that the U.S. had been hacking into China and Hong Kong computers since 2009. At the time PBS announced Rose's exclusive interview with Obama, Snowden was answering questions live online about the NSA surveillance programs and his decision to leak classified information and the press.

PBS also said that the president discussed the outcome of the Iranian presidential election, the violence in Syria, Guantanamo Bay and his controversial drones policy.
