An unexpected turn of events took one dancer from the pits of despair to the surprise of inclusion on Season 10 of "So You Think You Can Dance." Tap dancer Aaron Tayler had tried out once before, in Season 4, and got cut during "the green mile." As he faced that long walk a second time, he felt a growing sense of deja vu.
Two tappers had already made it, so he was pretty certain there wasn't room for a third. "So much harder the second time," he said.
And it proved just as crushing a result, as Aaron was sent home. But then came a surprising turn of events. Hip-hop dancer Emilio Dosal sustained an injury and had to leave the competition. Sitting at #11 for the guys on the judges' list was Aaron. And just like that, he was back in the show.
Entertainment Weekly was disappointed for Emilio, but said it was great for Aaron, who already caught their attention with his solo during the joint tap routine. HitFix celebrated his inclusion, too, despite a prejudice against Aaron's style of dance, writing, "Yay! I'm so, so glad, even though I hate tap. Aaron seems committed to doing everything, though.”
Now the competition really begins on "So You Think You Can Dance," Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
