Man Allegedly Throws Spears At Moving Car (MUGSHOT)

A man is accused of throwing a spear at a moving car.

Police say 56-year-old Jeffrey Allen Jones was nabbed Tuesday after a witness spotted him standing in the road throwing a spear at a passing vehicle, according to the Sacramento Bee. The spear reportedly "struck the front fender" and became lodged in the car. No injuries have been reported.

Jones, whose mugshot shows him with his eyes closed and mouth open, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

This isn't the first time such an act has made headlines in recent years. In March, a California man was arrested after he "ran amok with a spear-like weapon" on the remote ranch where he lives, prompting an hour-long siege by law enforcement officers, the Marin Independent Journal reports.

Last April, a man in Canada was accused of fatally stabbing a dog to death with a sharpened walking stick -- described as a "spear" by the man's neighbors -- in front of the animal's owner. According to the Toronto Star, a judge, who called the man's act "cruel and heartless," sentenced him to nine months under house arrest earlier this year.
