On Friday, Mika Brzezinski spoke out about Russell Brand's recent appearance on "Morning Joe," saying that she had never gotten worse feedback over anything else before.
Brand stopped by the show earlier this week to discuss his tour "Messiah Complex" — which has just canceled its stop in the Middle East. The hosts were unfamiliar with him and mocked his accent — and he responded accordingly.
Brzezinski apologized on Friday. "I didn’t know Russell,” she said. “I don’t think Russell liked that."
"I have never gotten more vitriol and anger and hatred than I have over this," she added. "So I apologize for not knowing."
She had introduced Brand on Monday by saying, "Joining me now, he's a really big deal. I'm told this."
On Friday, she said that it had been "a long day" full of interviews when she met the actor. The rest of the roundtable laughed about Brand's antics, and suggested that he should return to "Morning Joe" for another appearance.
CORRECTION: This article has been updated to clarify that Russell Brand has canceled his Middle Eastern dates. The rest of his tour is slated to go on as scheduled.
