'Catfish' Season 2 Premiere: Cassie's Best Friend Gladys Posed As Her Online Fiance (VIDEO)

'Catfish' Returns With A Huge Reveal

"Catfish" is back for Season 2 on MTV and so are the secrets, lies and Internet romances.

Season 2 of "Catfish" kicked off with Cassie, a young woman who had been talking to "Steven" for over two years. The two were supposedly engaged to be married, but had never met or even video chatted. "Steven" was a musician, constantly touring and writing ... supposedly. "Steven" entered Cassie's life at a time when she was on a self-destructive streak. Her father had just been murdered in Haiti and Cassie lost herself in the party scene. "Steven" showed up on her Facebook and helped her navigate her way back to the good girl she used to be.

When Nev Schulman and Max Joseph delved into "Steven," they traced "Steven" back to Tony, the cousin of Cassie's best friend Gladys. Yes, "Steven" was Gladys and her cousin Tony the whole time.

Gladys pretended to be "Steven" online and via text, and Tony did the voicework when Cassie would talk to "Steven" on the phone. Gladys explained she cooked up the fake profile to help save Cassie from her self-destructive behavior.

The two talked it out and have begun to mend their friendship.

"Catfish" airs Tuesdays, 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
