Andrew Samuolis, Suspected Gunman, Appears To Shoot At News Cameraman (GRAPHIC VIDEO)

A terrifying video filmed on Tuesday in a small Connecticut town appears to show a gunman shoot at a local news cameraman.

The unidentified cameraman, who was working for Hartford CBS-affiliate Channel 3 Eyewitness News, found the 34-year-old suspect, Andrew Samuolis, in a bulletproof vest in a wooded area behind a densely-populated Windham, Conn., neighborhood just as he was placing a handgun to his head.

However, as the video above shows, as the suspect sees the cameraman, he appears to point the gun toward him instead. Shots ring out, and the cameraman runs for cover.

Neither Lucey nor the videographer were hit by gunfire.

The incident began when police responded to Samuolis' home for a "well-being check" Tuesday morning, Channel 3 Eyewitness News reports.

While inside the home, an officer was shot in the arm, the outlet notes. At that point, the suspect fled into the woods. It was then that the Channel 3 Eyewitness News crew found him.

Police said they found Samuolis with a handgun on him after he was apprehended by officers and K9 police dogs. A search of his home later revealed a dead body and a shotgun, The Hartford Courant notes.

Samuolis told state investigators he had killed his father with a gun in February, according to a police report. The two had lived together, but neighbors called the police after not seeing the father for a significant period of time, the Courant reports.

Samuolis, who a bail commissioner said has "serious underlying mental health issues," faced a number of charges on Wednesday, including three counts of criminal attempted assault on a public safety officer and three counts of attempted first-degree assault.

The officer who was shot is in stable condition.
