Finally, some great news for Ann Curry: her primetime special won the demo on Friday night.

The special, which aired at 10 p.m., beat out all the other shows on NBC, Fox, ABC and CBS in viewers ages 18 to 49 and 25 to 54. It drew 5.98 million total viewers, which placed it second behind "Dateline.” NBC News touted the ratings win in a statement over the weekend.

Curry's report scored a 1.3 rating among adults ages 18 to 49, which was also an improvement over "Rock Center." In comparison, the last "Rock Center" broadcast earned a 0.9 rating in the same timeslot last week.

"Ann Curry Reports" is the first primetime special Curry has hosted since leaving "Today" last year. She was named a roving national and international correspondent for NBC News at the time, but her on-air presence for the past year was limited to handful of reports and brief stint guest-hosting "NBC Nightly News."

Curry, the managing editor and anchor of "Ann Curry Reports," interviewed Richard Norris — the man who received the most comprehensive face transplant to date — for her special on Friday. The report aired a year to Curry's last day on "Today."
