Ruben Studdard has joined the cast of "The Biggest Loser." The "American Idol" Season 2 winner will compete on the NBC weight-loss series this fall.

The Huffington Post has confirmed that Studdard will participate in the 15th season of "The Biggest Loser" set to launch on Tuesday, October 8 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. People first reported his casting.

"I've never had an issue with my weight," People quotes Studdard as saying. "[But] my family has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart-related issues – things I didn't have to deal with yet because I'm young. But I don't want to be worried at 40, and if I don't fix things now, I will be."

Studdard isn't the only "Idol" veteran to return to the spotlight on reality TV. Kellie Pickler recently competed on -- and won -- "Dancing With the Stars."
