James Franco's 'The Sound And The Fury' Adaptation May Feature Jon Hamm

The world's busiest man has found his next project.

James Franco is reportedly moving forward with his adaptation of William Faulkner's 1929 novel "The Sound and the Fury," according to the Los Angeles Times. Franco will try has hand at directing and starring in a film version of Faulkner's critically acclaimed fourth novel.

LAT reports Franco wrote a script for the film with his friend Matt Rager, a fellow Yale student. Faulkner's original story focuses on a wealthy family in the South in the early 20th century that falls into some bad luck. Franco is reportedly courting "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm to play the family's patriarch. The cast may also include Franco's brother Dave Franco and Franco's "This is the End" co-star Danny McBride, according to LAT.

Franco's take won't be the first film adaptation of "The Sound and the Fury." The classic story made it to the big screen in 1959 with a film starring Joanne Woodward, Margaret Leighton, Yul Brynner, and Stuart Whitman.
