Laura Bush: George W. Bush Once Drove Into Garage Wall After I Told Him His Speech Wasn't Very Good

Laura Bush Tells Head-Turning George W. Bush Story

After 35 years of marriage, former First Lady Laura Bush and President George W. Bush have shared hundreds of moments together.

On Tuesday, Mrs. Bush appeared to have isolated a memorable one, with tweets reporting her telling onlookers in Tanzania about a time involving her husband's speeches and driving.

Bush was known for making a public speaking gaffe or two, culminating in the label "Bushisms" for some of his more memorable statements. Back in 2009, the Associated Press compiled a rundown of some of the more noteworthy sentences.

Almost five years removed from office, Bush's standing with Americans appears to be on the upswing. A Gallup poll released in early June found that Bush received his first positive approval rating since 2005.

"The recovery in Bush's image is not unexpected, given that Americans generally view former presidents positively," Gallup's Jeffrey M. Jones said in the release.
