New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will host a fundraiser at his Manhattan home for Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), according to BuzzFeed.

Tickets for the Bloomberg event, which will take place July 22, start at $1,000, BuzzFeed reports.

Bloomberg, who has long supported efforts to curb gun violence, recently backed background check legislation co-authored by Manchin and Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.). When the background checks amendment failed in the Senate, Bloomberg called the vote "a damning indictment of the stranglehold that special interests have on Washington" and urged Democratic donors not to donate to Democratic senators who voted against the background checks measure.

But Bloomberg and Manchin don't agree on all issues.

In July 2011, Bloomberg donated $50 million to the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal campaign. The mayor has called the coal industry -- which Manchin regularly defends -- "a dead man walking."
