Anna Benson, the estranged wife of former New York Mets pitcher Kris Benson, was arrested Monday evening on felony assault charges after she allegedly stormed Kris' home and threatened him with a gun.
Kris, who filed for divorce from the "Baseball Wives" star last year, told police Anna showed up at his Smyrna, Ga., apartment Monday night after she was ordered by the court to vacate their marital home, according to TMZ. Anna was allegedly brandishing a gun and metal baton and wearing a bulletproof vest. Kris said she threatened to hit him with the baton and then pulled out the handgun and demanded money.
The former Mets player allegedly told Anna he would go get her the cash but left the house and called the police instead.
Anna was booked on four counts, including two counts of aggravated assault, one count of criminal trespassing and one count of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit a crime, according to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office arrest report.
As of 9 p.m. on Monday, she had not posted bail and remained in Cobb County Jail, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
The former FHM model and "Baseball's Hottest Housewife" met Kris while working as a dancer at an Atlanta strip club. They married in 1999, and the busty brunette quickly turned heads among those in the major leagues. One of her most jaw-dropping moments was when she revealed she and Kris once had sex in a car in a stadium parking lot while fans waited for autographs just outside the tinted windows, the New York Daily News notes.
Kris filed for divorce from Anna last year. She told Fox News the split came after she found out he had cheated on her.
“I’m very sad about this,” she told Fox. “Kris was my whole life. And he left me for someone else and he just abandoned us. I’m scared and I just don’t know what I’m going to do or how I’m going to take care of these kids.”
