Sean McDonnell Arrested: Bob McDonnell's Son Charged With Public Swearing And Intoxication

Bob McDonnell's Son Arrested

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell's 21-year-old son Sean was arrested Saturday and charged with public swearing and intoxication, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

McDonnell was arrested in Charlottesville. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 12.

In an email to CBS 6, a spokesperson for McDonnell said the GOP governor and his family are aware of the situation.

“This is a personal matter and is being addressed by the family,” said Tucker Martin, spokesperson for McDonnell.

The governor has recently been embroiled in his own fair share of scandal, with the FBI investigating his relationship with donor and Star Scientific Inc. CEO Jonnie Williams. Virginia state Sen. Chap Petersen (D) recently became the first state legislator to "humbly suggest" that the governor resign over the controversy.
