A Chicago woman beaten in what police are calling a gang-related attack while 7 1/2 months pregnant delivered a stillborn baby Wednesday, officials said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was attacked by a group of several women and one man in the 4800 block of South Laflin Street around 11 p.m. Monday in Back of the Yards the Sun-Times reports.

Police say the group asked what gang the woman was affiliated with before the attack; DNAinfo Chicago reports the woman was not known to be affiliated with a gang, though her boyfriend is a known gang member in the area.

An autopsy of the stillborn baby girl revealed her cause of death to be "maternal assault," according to the medical examiner's office. The Tribune reports the girl was 32 weeks along in development. Police have not ruled the death a homicide as of early Thursday.

Police have no one yet in custody for the attack.
