Lawyers Appreciated Even Less Than Business Executives: Survey

And The Only Workers Appreciated Less Then Business Execs Are...

Attention CEOs: We have some slightly good news. Apparently your job is not the least valued profession in the country.

A new survey, conducted by the Pew Research Center, found that lawyers are among the least appreciated workers in the United States. After polling more than 4,000 people living in the country, Pew discovered that only 18 percent of respondents think lawyers contribute "a lot" to the well-being of society.

Public esteem for business executives was just a little better, with about 1 in 4 respondents saying that execs give back significantly to their communities.

The meager show of support for business executives is actually a slight improvement from previous polls. In 2009, when Pew last conducted the survey, only 21 percent of Americans said they greatly appreciated business executives' contributions to society. Sadly for lawyers, public appreciation for them actually fell by 5 percent in the past four years.
