While on a date with the first man she'd given a chance since the death of her husband, Paul, on "Mistresses," April had a vision. She saw her dead husband standing across the street -- at least until a bus drove past. Ultimately, she decided that maybe it was a sign that it was time to move on and finally close that chapter of her life.
But that's not what it meant at all. Because it wasn't a vision.
At the end of the episode, she sent her daughter off to school. Then, there was a knock at the door. Thinking it was her daughter again, she opened it and was stunned to see her husband standing there, alive and well.
“Hi, April," he said simply. Previews for next week show Paul explaining to April that he'd faked his own death. And things were going so well with the new guy. This will certainly throw a giant monkey wrench in their vacation plans.
TVLine got a kick out of the scene, comparing it to a famous commercial campaign. "April’s dead husband gets his Lazarus on, rings her doorbell and gives her the spousal equivalent of Budweiser’s classic/irritating ‘Wassup?’ ad," they wrote. "Is it wrong that my immediate response to the last of those whoppers is wondering how exactly she’ll drop the bomb on Savi, Karen and Joss?”
Rochelle Aytes, who plays April, Tweeted that the episode was "crazy." It'll likely only get wilder as "Mistresses" continues, Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
