Getting dumped can be devastating, and recovering from a breakup takes time, good friends and possibly a pint of two or ice cream to help heal. But after getting dumped twice within a year, author Tamara Johnson took a different approach to getting over a broken heart. She shared her story on HuffPost Live.
"I thought that 30 was going to be the magical year of finding someone, the man of my dreams. And I ended up getting dumped on the subway in New York City," she told host Nancy Redd. "I finally accepted that things needed to be different, and thought, 'I need to change some major relationship habits that I have here.' So I decided to go back to the basics--first dates--and I was going to do it for a month. In honor of my 31st birthday, I went on 31 dates in 31 days."
Johnson, a dating coach, wrote 31 Dates In 31 Days about her experience, which ultimately ended in happiness. She met her husband during her month of dating, and married him a year later.
"I met him actually right in the beginning. And he was not even part of the project, he was sort of this last-minute fill-in guy who wasn't even supposed to be it. I wasn't really sure if all those guys I was going to pick--I was like 'I didn't expect to like any of these guys.' And then I had crushes on half of them. I was having way more fun than I intended!"
Joining Johnson and Redd in the conversation were Aurora Winter, a celebrity heartbreak coach and founder of The Greif Coach Academy, relationship coach Teresa Atkin and Mark Radcliffe, a writer and singer-songwriter.
