Tank Top Beating: Chicago Clerk Beaten With Bat For Not Having 3X Tank Top Size Attacker Wanted

A clerk at a Northwest Side convenience store was beaten with a baseball bat after he told a man requesting 3x-sized tank tops there were none available.

The attack happened sometime between 10:30 and 11 a.m. in the 5500 block of West Belmont Avenue in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood, the Sun-Times reports.

After the clerk informed the man the store didn't carry the requested triple extra large sized tank top t-shirts, DNAinfo Chicago reports the man pulled out a baseball bat and beat the 51-year-old clerk before fleeing.

Another merchant down the block saw the suspect flee through an alley before spotting the bloodied clerk run out of the store, all of which was caught by security cameras, the Tribune reports. The clerk was later treated and released at an area hospital.

Police issued a description of the attacker: Black, between 23 and 30, standing between 5'8" and 6' tall and weighing between 200 and 250 pounds. Police said the man was wearing a red bandana and white tank top and had brown eyes and black hair.
