Jason Heyward Catch Saves Braves Against Mets (VIDEO)

WATCH: Diving Catch Saves Braves

Unable to muster much offense against the New York Mets on Monday night, the Atlanta Braves needed a stellar defensive play to seal a win over their NL East rivals.

Jason Heyward delivered.

Atlanta held a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth but New York was threatening with two men on base and two outs. Mets infielder Justin Turner drove a 95-mph fastball from Craig Kimbrel to the left-center gap. But Heyward was able to chase it down and make a diving catch to end the game.

Heyward slid on the wet grass before getting to his feet to celebrate.

"I knew I had to dive off the bat, because I didn't think it was within my reach," Heyward said after the game, via MLB.com. "As I got closer, I was thinking, 'Obviously, you're going to try to make the play with two outs and the game on the line. If you don't catch it, so be it. Fortunately, I was able to get a good enough jump."
