Romain Marandet Jumps Over Tour De France Leaders From Trees On A Mountain Bike (VIDEO)

WATCH: He Flew From Trees Over Tour De France!

The Tour de France looked more like the X Games Saturday when Romain Marandet emerged from the trees and flew over the race on a mountain bike, YouTube footage of the event shows.

Marandet appeared to vault just after eventual Tour winner Chris Froome and other riders passed en route to Annecy-Semnoz, the destination of Saturday's stage of the race.

Marandet also has a behind-the-scenes video (see below) of how he pulled off his leap. The footage manages to maintain a little mystery as we watch guys clear a path through the forest for optimum flying conditions.

Bike Radar noted that another thrill-seeker attempted a similar stunt in the 2002 race and crash-landed.
