Nat Wolff was on the short list of actors vying for the role of Gus in the upcoming adaptation of "The Fault in Our Stars," and it appears he made quite an impression with the filmmakers. Despite losing that coveted role to Ansel Elgort, Wolff has been cast in the film as Isaac, Gus' friend and a catalyst who helps launch the book's tragic romance. EW.com was the first to report Wolff had been cast in Josh Boone's film, which is based on the book by John Green.
Wolff, Elgort and star Shailene Woodley aren't alone in the cast: TheWrap reports that Laura Dern has joined up for "The Fault in Our Stars." She'll play Woodley's mother.
Green's book is about a 16-year-old cancer patient named Hazel (Woodley), who falls in love with the aforementioned Gus. This is Woodley's second big young adult adaptation, behind the upcoming thriller "Divergent."
