Leelanau Peninsula juts some 30 miles into Lake Michigan. It's long been a vacation destination for people visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore as well as the likes of Mario Batali, who wrote a Love Letter to Traverse City and was recently Tweeting from his vacation in the area.
