Trigger The Dog Won't Let His Duck Pal Donald Go In 1949 Loomis Dean Picture (PHOTO)

This Photo Has The CUTEST Back Story

Trigger the dog looks awfully guilty in this amazing 1949 Loomis Dean photo. But don't worry -- the Chesapeake Bay retriever wasn't hunting that duck.

This photo appeared in LIFE magazine's, "The Classic Collection."

When a family in Yakima, Wash.,, brought Donald the duck home, the waddler immediately attached himself to the family dog. Unfortunately, though, the family had to give Donald away because he was a bit of a troublemaker, and he ended up with a rancher.

That's when he met Trigger, the dog in the photo above.

The two became instant pals.

When the rancher attempted to send Donald back to his natural habitat -- the water -- Trigger would dive in after him. The pup was always gentle with his friend.

According to LIFE, Donald eventually ended up back with his original family.

The sweet photo reminded us of another duck-and-dog friendship, where one pup likes to give his quacking friend a lift when he goes swimming.
