There is an independent candidate for mayor of New York City, and his name is Jack Hidary.
Hidary, who announced his candidacy earlier this summer, is often compared to Michael Bloomberg. Both are rich tech entrepreneurs and politically independent.
So how is Hidary not just Bloomberg 2.0? For starters, Hidary told HuffPost Live's Mike Sacks Friday, he's from Brooklyn--the "unhip" part of Brooklyn to be exact.
"There's no artisanal pickles where I'm at," he said.
Hidary stressed that he wants to be a mayor for "all five boroughs," and discussed his plan for introducing entrepreneurial spaces to sections of Queens and the Bronx.
The candidate also distanced himself from Bloomberg on subjects like job creation, stop and frisk, and more. You can watch the whole interview here.
