The former Desperate Housewives star will executive produce the sitcom inspired by real-life sex and relationships therapist Laura Berman, said Deadline.
As yet untitled, the show will follow the therapist and her patients who are dealing with intimacy, love and unusual fetishes, as well as navigating relationships with her ex husband, his new girlfriend and her own mother, and looking after two young sons. The jokes will arise from the patients who consult with a female sex therapist on a variety of intimate matters
Universal TV will be producing the comedy and it will fall under Eva’s own UnbeliEVAble Entertainment production company.
Who is Laura Berman?
Therapist Laura Berman will also co-executive produce. She has a show on OWN called In The Bedroom With Dr Laura Berman and is a regular guest on the Dr Oz Show. Berman is a world renowned sex and relationship expert who is considered a thought leader and innovator in her field. As a sex educator, researcher and therapist for more than 20 years, she has helped countless couples build stronger relationships, improve their sex lives, and achieve a heightened level of intimacy.
Dr. Berman is a New York Times best-selling author of many books on sexual health and pleasure and a weekly columnist for the Chicago Sun Times. She has appeared on Fox News and CNN and in The New York Times, USA Today, and every major woman’s magazine.
Eva Longoria as producer
Eva Longoria has taken to creating shows—rather than starring in them —in recent years, but her latest series was criticized and harshly condemned within her own cultural community over what critics are calling a demeaning and stereotypical portrayal of Hispanic women. The series name is “Devious Maids,” which Longoria developed with “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry.
Many viewers share that “Devious Maids” was “just offensive,” while others praised the series with tweets such as “loved loved, good new show” and “intrigue and funny at the same time!”
