The "Iron Chef" himself on Monday evening took to the field at The Cell and, while wearing long gray robes, threw out the first pitch ahead of the White Sox showdown against the Tigers, Eater reports.

Masaharu Morimoto, in town the same day it was announced he is teaming up with Japonais for a massive rework of the Near North Side eatery, said Monday he enjoys Chicago, particularly its hot dogs and beer.

Among the sparse audience taking in Morimoto's pitch and the Sox 6-2 win over the Tigers, according to the Zagat blog, was Mario Batali -- another foodie celebrity in town to keep an eye on the forthcoming opening of his first Eataly store in Chicago, which is set for November.

What do you think of Morimoto's throwing skills?
