A-Rod's Camp Leaked Biogensis Documents Implicating Ryan Braun, Francisco Cervelli: REPORT

REPORT: A-Rod Ratted On Teammate, Ryan Braun

Alex Rodriguez may soon be as unpopular with his peers as he is with the paying customers.

According to a report from "60 Minutes," members of Rodriguez's inner circle leaked documents connecting Yankees teammate Francisco Cervelli and Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun to Biogenesis, the clinic at the center of MLB's latest performance-enhancing drug scandal. Citing two unnamed sources with direct knowledge of the case, "60 Minutes" reports that Rodriguez's camp obtained and leaked documents to Yahoo! Sports that included the names of these two players shortly after the Miami New Times first reported on the clinic and its MLB clients in January 2013.

In January 2013, the Miami New Times published Biogenesis documents purportedly chronicling the use of performance-enhancing drugs -- including human growth hormone and anabolic steroids -- by several prominent MLB players. Rodriguez's name appeared 16 times in those documents but Braun was not mentioned in that initial report.

The 2011 National League MVP was subsequently connected to the clinic and its founder Anthony Bosch by a Yahoo! Sports report in February. Braun would later become the first player suspended following MLB's investigation into Bosch and Biogenesis. He accepted a 65-game suspension in July that would sideline him for the remainder of the 2013 season. Cervelli would become one of 12 players to receive 50-game suspensions in August. He also accepted his ban without an appeal.

Rodriguez was hit with a 211-game suspension but has remained eligible to play as he appeals the punishment. In response to the "60 Minutes" report, Rodriguez attorney David Cornwell released a statement on Friday.

"These allegations are untrue and are another attempt to harm Alex, this time by driving a wedge between him and other players in the league," Cornwell said in the statement obtained by ESPN New York. "While Alex focuses on baseball and repeatedly states that he is going to respect the appeal process, the drumbeat of false allegations continues. These improper and viciously false leaks will not alter the fact that MLB exceeded its authority under the JDA (Joint Drug Agreement) and the 211 game (suspension) will not stand.''
