At long last, Gareth Bale has joined Real Madrid.
Real Madrid confirmed the acquisition of Bale shortly after Tottenham was defeated in a north London derby against rival Arsenal on Sunday. Following months of transfer rumors, the 24-year-old Welsh winger has signed on with Los Blancos for six years, according to the team's official Twitter account. The Spanish titans set another transfer fee record to land Bale, according to media reports. ESPN FC reports that the world record fee is "believed to be €100 million."

Having made his debut for Southampton at age 16, Bale arrived at White Hart Lane for the 2007-2008 season. In his final campaign with Spurs, Bale scored 24 goals in 31 Premier League matches. He will now pair with Ronaldo in Madrid to form one of the most physically imposing and technically skilled attacks in the sport. The reported €100 million fee tops the fee that Madrid spent in 2009 to bring in Ronaldo from Manchester United. the 24-year-old has been paid in full.
